Background
Jack Clarke was born into a motor sport family - his step father is the ex-Formula One driver, Julian Bailey - and despite his parents trying everything possible to keep him out of motor sport, he has excelled at everything he has driven.
Jack entered single seater racing via the Formula BMW UK Championship in 2006. He competed in 20 races over the season, finishing sixth in the Rookie Cup and gaining valuable experience along the way. He went on to compete in the Formula BMW World Final against fellow F2 drivers Robert Wickens and Tobias Hegewald, whilst also being shortlisted for a place on the MSA Race Elite programme.
In 2007 Jack made the transition into Formula Palmer Audi, where he demonstrated his pace by taking a sixth in just his second race at Silverstone. He followed this up with a fourth and a fifth at Brands Hatch GP, before a superb triple header at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit where he took second, third and then his maiden race victory in round ten. He finished the season with one more victory, at Croft, which helped him to fourth position in the championship.
Jack then raced in the 2007 Formula Palmer Audi Autumn Trophy, competing alongside Jason Moore and Alex Brundle. He finished third in the final standings, taking one win and four podiums from the six races.
In 2008 Jack completed two races in the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain, whilst maintaining his
commitment to the main Formula Palmer Audi championship and Autumn Trophy. He received support from
the MSA after being awarded a place on the motorsport governing body’s ‘Race Elite Academy’ scheme.
He had another successful weekend at Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, winning in round 12, whilst also taking victory
at Oulton Park and claiming seven podiums over the course of the season. He finished fifth in the final standings.
Jack competed again in the 2008 Autumn Trophy, where one victory, two podiums and a further three top eight
finishes from the six races saw him finish fourth overall.
For 2009 Jack moved up to the newly created Formula 2 which had been noticeably absent for 25 years. He had a mixed year and a large learning curve and was satisfied to finish the year as the top British driver. Always a two year plan, Jack is back in Formula Two for the second year in 2010 and after a strong winter testing programme has firmly positioned himself as one of the front runners in this ultra competitive series.
